So, I’ve decided to succumb to the blogging world. I enjoy reading other’s pages so much, that I felt it time to pursue one of my own. It’s such a great way to stay in touch with what everyone’s doing in their lives. I have several friends that I don’t see on a regular basis, but it hardly seems that way because I’m reading about them all the time on their blog! Seems a little impersonal, I know. I certainly don’t want this to replace any of the time that I spend with friends, but I do want everyone to be able to keep in touch regularly with what’s going on in the Brasher household. Plus, there’s so many exciting things going on right now, I just felt a need to write them down so as not to forget and to share with you how the Lord is working in our life.
Our darling Ann Clayton is quite the handful lately, but I wouldn’t trade her for the world! She keeps me laughing and smiling and I don’t know what I’d do without her. For those of you who haven’t heard, I’ve decided to be a stay-at-home mom!! Yes, it’s true. All that law for nothing. No, not really. I’ll return to it one day. The idea of billable hours with a beautiful baby girl at home has worried me all year long. It wasn’t until the end of the school year that it suddenly seemed quite clear that the Lord wanted me to stay home with Ann Clayton. And now I am! But in place of the desk job, the Lord has lead me to two challenging, but thrilling, jobs: 1)Full-time mom, diaper changer, tear dryer, food preparer, spoon-feeder, walker, driver, rocker, reader, singer, bather, chaser, lift machine. Fabulous job!! Like I said earlier, wouldn’t trade it for the world!
And 2) The second job has revealed itself to be of an equal, if not a greater challenge. Shane and I, after much prayer, have accepted the position of the new youth pastors at our church. “What?!!” you might be saying. I know, it surprised us, too. When our pastor approached us about it, we were practically speechless. As we prayed about it, we felt God really nudging us to take the job. Not only was it a way to give our entire life and family over to God’s service, but also the youth are amazing individuals. Some of them just don’t know it yet. Some are, might I say, resisting God at this time. For them, church is more of a time to socialize and they can’t quite grasp the magnitude of the Lord and all He has done for us. I, too, enjoy socializing with fellow Christians, but I want it to be more than that for them. Pray for them. Pray that God would open their eyes, hearts and minds this year as we seek Him.
Our pastor shared with us a scary statistic. If an individual does not know about Christ before the age of 18, statistics show they will never know Him because they’ve already hardened their heart. Shane and I were at the “Basement” ministries a few weeks ago. The speaker made a point that the only Bible that some people read will be you and me. I pray that God gives us the words and guidance to witness to these youth so that they can accept God’s grace and share His Word with their family and their friends at school.
So, it seems I’ve given up the billable hours in exchange for a job that has eternal consequences. I can’t think of anything my family and I would rather experience. I look forward to keeping everyone updated. Hope you’ll visit frequently to catch up!

I want to leave you with a verse each time. Some will be on point with what I’ve written, others are just favorites. Today is one of my very favorites, one that gets repeated often in my head.
Philippians 4: 6-7
Philippians 4: 6-7
6 Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. 7 Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.

Beautiful scripture, Virginia! My favorite verse is actually Phillipians 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." Thank you for pointing out several supplemental verses to my favorite. :) Hope all is well with you guys!
